Originally from California, Reid Peppard is an artist who lives and works in London. She attended Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design and completed her BA in Fine Art in 2008. Her taxidemy accessories have recently caught the attention of the world's style press and her rat head piece was featured in the Lady Gaga video for Bad Romance.
Blogface caught up with the beautiful Miss Peppard to see what inspires her creativity and how she responds to her critics:
BF: When did you first start getting into taxidermy?
RP: I first started getting in to taxidermy when I moved over here and started doing my degree in Fine Art.
BF: Where do you get you inspiration for your work?
RP: I find inspiration in the animals I preserve.
BF: Even though all your pieces are victims of road kill or natural death, some people have ethical issues with your art. How do you respond to this?
RP: I fundamentally don't understand how preserving things that are left to rot on the road could throw up any ethical issues, so I simply don't respond.
BF: What is your favourite piece?
RP: My favorite piece is the Large White Rat Coin Purse.
If you live in London and happen to find a dead animal, scrape it up, freeze it and give Reid a shout.
