Markus Rico is an internationally published photographer and artist based in Madrid. He is best known as founder of Flashatnight which documents the underground party scene in Madrid, London, Berlin, Barcelona and other European culture hotspots. His work deals with themes such as glamour, fetish, performance, hedonism, nighlife with his signature cabalistic but stylized approach.
Preparing for the launch of Flashatnight: The Book and a solo exhibition (a series of potraits of well know faces in the Madrid alternative and clubscene), Blogface asked Markus to describe his work:
"Never, not even now, have i had the certainty of knowing where all these stories are going. Many nights. Unforgettable. Or not. Crazy. Others less. Those that end in sex. Or without it.
Music. Screams. Voices. Sounds. Performances. Live shows. With friends. With aquaintances. With the anonymous. Tattoos. Backs. High Heels. Lips. Makeup. Necks. Chains. Sometimes tears. Dark stairs. Red Corridors. Blue. Bathrooms. Drugs. Dark Empty Spaces. Blank, Blurred, Drunken stares.
And I still do not know, even now, where all these stories are going. It´s in your your hands, probably."
